Kanagawa Systematized Goodwill Guide (KSGG) Club is a non-profit voluntary organization comprising mostly retirees and housewives in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The members, using their foreign language skills and, as civil diplomats, are taking part in such volunteer activities as helping foreign students and trainees with language and cultural supports, interpreting at international meetings and events, and guiding visitors from overseas for sightseeing tours. Through these activities, the members hope that international exchanges and mutual understanding will be promoted.
Since its foundation in1989, KSGG has been authorized and assisted by Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Kanagawa Prefectural Government, and Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau. And happily KSGG has gained an excellent reputation as one of the best volunteer groups in Kanagawa Prefecture and as one of the leading SGG Clubs in Japan.

LANGUAGE SUPPORT

LANGUAGE SUPPORT

hoshinoF.jpg We will help out students and trainees from abroad and other general foreigners in Japan with their writing personal reports in Japanese as well as their reading, writing, and speaking Japanese. Also, we will act as interpreter for them when they go to hospitals and public institutions and facilities. Through these activities we hope they will understand Japan better and enjoy staying comfortably in Japan.

INTRODUCTION to CULTURES & TECHNOLOGIES

We will introduce Japanese cultures, such as tea ceremony, flower arrangement, paper folding, and so forth to those people from abroad and in Japan as we help them out with their Japanese language by a method of our own. Also, we will visit automobile plants and beer breweries with them to show the advanced technology of Japan. In this way, we can provide them with an opportunity of learning to speak practical Japanese as they enjoy themselves.

SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS

SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS

We have seminars and workshops to impove ourselves so that we can help visitors from abroad deepen their understanding of Japan and make their stay and life more comfortable and fruitful.

International Understanding Course
kokusairikaikDSCN7477.jpgWe invite foreign guest speakers to our International Understanding Course each month to brush up our international sense and ability in language. From many different themes, such as their country’s history, geography, culture, language, politics, economy, their own job, hobby, and impression of Japan, the speakers choose a topic and talk about it usually in English, and active questions and answers follow it.

Workshops for Guides
gaidokensyuDSC01123.jpgWe regularly hold two types of workshops for our members to improve our practical knowledge so that we can act as guide anytime. One is what we call “Classroom Workshop” and the other is “Field Workshop.” We study history and tourist attractions of the model couses in Yokohama and Kamakura.
